About Alcoholics Anonymous:
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of people who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.
About District 26:
District 26 is the Oregon Area 58 District serving North and Northeast Portland. Our primary purpose is to maintain sobriety and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety by connecting with the AA groups that have originated or are currently located within the geographical section pertaining to district 26 in Area 58-Oregon of Alcoholics Anonymous; or by an officially recognized and registered AA groups choosing to have District 26 serve them. A group is a member of District 26 when they send a General Service Representative to the monthly business meeting. Our common welfare should always come first and personal recovery second. All Open-format meetings are available for anyone in the general public to attend and Closed-format meetings are only available to those that are alcoholic or may think that they have a problem with drinking alcohol. District 26 is a geographic district in Oregon Area 58 that serves North and Northeast Portland. Our geographic boundaries, as shown on the map, are the Columbia and Willamette Rivers, Fremont Street and NE 202nd Avenue. Although A.A. Groups are encouraged to participate in the district in which they geographically meet, AA Groups can choose how they participate in district 26. Contact us or attend our business meeting if you'd like to be a part of district 26!
How to Attend the District Business Meeting
We meet every Second Sunday of the month at 5:00 PM both online via zoom and in-person at Leaven Community Center in NE Portland. Anyone is invited to attend and observe, however only committee members and district 26 GSR are able to vote.
