We discussed mainly about how we produce service structures to help organize our efforts and as well as differences. Autonomy is an important concept, How the district supports a groups right to choose how they participate. When there isn't enough to participate, those effects can be felt. ** Oregon GSRs please download and print copies for your group prospectively.. -Kevan C>
Since the last assembly, I decided that I would stop “acting” as DCM for district 26 and become a fully-realized DCM. My first combined district meeting where there was a total of 6 in attendance, our last joint district meeting had 17 in attendance. I am watching service in my district come alive once more, realize my district has 33 active groups and D12 has 25 groups. I want to take a moment to express my gratitude. I want to thank my home group for their understanding that I wasn’t meant to be their GSR, and have now found another volunteer to be the GSR. I want to thank our district secretary and GSR Bobby N for his dedicated service to our district and his home group, the Salty Bunch, for letting me interrupt their meetings multiple times to make district announcements. And to our group Nite Owls that remind us to practice rule #62, they reached out during an emergency in their group to the DCM and I was available to be of service. I am indebted to the area IT committee that has been able to re-establish the DCM email. They were able to preserve the prior emails, some of them were my unanswered emails of a newly elected GSR trying to attend a district meeting. My gratitude to the Area archivists and history team being available to help with finding the small amount of records of district 26.
What has been successful is due largely to myself going to meetings, announcing that our district has open positions to be filled, and that I would make myself available to talk to their group after the meetings about area, regional, and world services. On our district website, I also made our district meeting available, both in person and via zoom. So that anyone or any group seeking our districts help, it can be available It is in this spirit of tradition 4, that my district goes it alone as much as possible, but the matters affecting my district are both in fact matters that affect another district, being district 12 and that can affect AA as a whole, that I am asking the Area Committee and my fellow districts to go actively campaigning inside and outside of the meetings of district 12 and district 26. I am in deep need for women in the program to attend the women groups to ask those groups to elect GSRs and Alternate GSR to attend the district business meeting and the area assembly. Let the meetings of my district know what being of service means to you, let them know how it has helped your recovery, how tradition 1 reminds us that it is through unity that my district is not alone and never will be alone, just as our groups are not alone, our districts are not alone, our area is not alone, nor is our region. I want to re-emphasize that I make myself available because when anyone, anywhere reaches out for help, I want the hand of aa to always be there, ready and available, and for that I am responsible. |
What is a DCM?The DCM carries the collective group conscience of the A.A. groups in the district to the area committee. Among the two-way communication responsibilities of the DCM are: Archives
